Domaine Michel Lafarge

Not only has the Lafarge family guided the village of Volnay through challenging and joyful periods, but they have also created some of the most exceptional, enduring, and soulful wines in the region.

Built over cellars in Volnay first dug by the Dukes of Burgundy, Domaine Michel Lafarge was established by Michel’s great-great-grandparents early in the 19th century. The Lafarge family remains true to their traditions, connected to their soil, and committed to the pure expression of their vineyards. The estate is certified organic (Ecocert) and biodynamic (Demeter), which only adds to the quality of the wine.

The vineyards are planted on some of the best sites in Volnay and Beaune, resulting in some of the finest-made and longest-lived wines in Burgundy. The winemaking at Domaine Michel Lafarge is sensitive but traditional, with just a small amount of new oak used to allow the wines’ finesse to shine through. The result is an exquisite expression of the vineyards, with the wines routinely achieving global recognition.
