R. Pouillon & Fils
"Authenticity is nothing without sincerity."
The Pouillon family has been cultivating grapes in the region for over a century, and in 1947, Fabrice's grandfather, Roger Pouillon, began producing wine with the help of his family members. Today, Fabrice and his father James continue the family tradition with dedication and passion.
Fabrice Pouillon has taken the winery in an exciting new direction, with a focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture. The estate incorporates compost management, herbal “teas” and natural treatments to maintain the health and vitality of the vineyards on both sides of Marne Valley. All fruit is hand-harvested and transferred to an ancient wooden pneumatic press, with juice falling via gravity into enameled iron fermentation tanks. The wines are aged in a combination of stainless steel and older oak demi-muids and barriques, with everything undergoing full malolactic fermentation. Reserve wines are aged for up to 18 months in 700-liter, old-oak barrels. At this wonderful intersection of tradition and regenerative farming lies the magic of within each bottle of R. Pouillon et Fils.
