Ribolla Gialla, an ancient and lesser known grape that thrives in Napa Valley thanks to George Vare. Inspired by Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy, George introduced this unique variety to California in the early '90s. In 2001, he planted cuttings from Josko Gravner’s vineyard at the foot of Mt. Veeder. The deep, alluvial, gravelly clay loam soils and moderated temperatures produce exceptional, age-worthy Ribolla Gialla. Expertly farmed by Steve Matthiasson, this wine offers bright acidity, citrus blossom and green apple aromas, and flavors of pear, lemon zest, and almond. A complex texture brings depth and layers to this, it's a delightful, refreshing discovery for any wine enthusiast.
