Since taking over from his father in 2001, Klaus Peter and his wife Julia Keller have turned the Keller estate from the humble Rheinhessen region into one of the most celebrated and sought after wineries in the world. Known for producing some of the most coveted Rieslings in the world, the estate combines generations of family expertise with a profound respect for its terroir.
Famously coined the “German Montrachets” by Jancis Robinson, the British wine critic and journalist, in 2008, the Keller estate has only continued to improve, cementing itself as one of the most compelling wine estates in the world. The ability to change the perception of the once underappreciated Rheinhessen into some of the world's best terroirs is nothing short of amazing.
The winery’s vineyards, including the renowned Hubacker and Morstein, benefit from diverse soils and microclimates, allowing Keller to craft wines of remarkable clarity and elegance. What sets Keller apart is its unwavering commitment to quality over quantity. The winery’s small-scale production focuses on expressing the unique characteristics of its vineyards through minimal intervention and a deep understanding of the land. This approach has earned Keller an international reputation as one of the greatest winegrowers in the world.
Klaus Peter and Julia Keller’s son Felix crafts this remarkable "field blend" of Pinot blanc, Chardonnay and old Silvaner parcels. The cuvée name is a derivative of "shelly lime" in reference to the grapes grown from limestone soil , inlaid with fossilized shells, in the Hügelland, near the villages of Dalsheim and Westhofen. This unfolds as a rich, luxurious texture on the palate with bright citrus tones throughout.
