We’re now going to make it easier to access a collection of Sine Qua Non by offering a bundle of three 1.5 liter magnums of their Distenta bottlings: 2019 Grenache, 2019 Syrah, and the 2020 Syrah!
The 2019 Grenache Distenta I is composed of 76% Grenache, 9.3% Syrah, 8% Mourvèdre, 4.3% Petite Sirah and 2.4% Viognier. It was fermented with 43.5% whole clusters (predominantly Grenache) and matured for 23 months in 26.5% new French oak. Delivering a beautiful ruby-purple in color, it explodes with scents of crushed blackberries and blueberries, coffee beans, cracked pepper and thyme.
The 2019 Syrah Distenta I comes entirely from the Krankls' estate vineyards: 35% from The Third Twin, 33% from Eleven Confessions, 31% from Cumulus and 1% from Molly Aïda. A more elegant, restrained Sine Qua Non revealing flawless balance, beautiful freshness and elegance, silky tannins, and one heck of a finish. Still so youthful give this a decant or time in your cellar before diving in.
The 2020 Sine Qua Non Grenache Distenta 2 is a blend of 77.9% Grenache, 9.4% Mourvèdre, 7.9% Syrah, 4.3% Petite Sirah, and 0.5% Viognier. The vineyard sources are Eleven Confessions (40%), Cumulus (33%), The Third Twin (21%), and Molly Aïda (6%). The fermentation included 29.1% of whole clusters. It was aged for 23 months in 52% new French oak and demi-muids.
These wines live up to their names (Distenta: Latin for “full”). Each sip is mouth-filling and would be perfect to accompany your summertime BBQ to share with friends, or cellar and patiently await each luxurious sip.
