Rajat Parr is a world-renowned Sommelier turned Winemaker who formerly ran the Michael Mina restaurants wine programs before turning away from the glitz of fine dining and returning to the (vine) roots. He heads several projects based in coastal California, amongst them Sandhi, Domaine de la Cote, and Evening Land. Phelan Farm was started when he discovered a vineyard in Cambria, 3-miles off the
Pacific in San Luis Obispo, just north of his home in Santa Barbara. This site was so astounishing that he decided to start the label dedicated to the 12 acres in which he now farms Pinot Noir, Poulssard, Monduese, Trousseau and Savagnin, to name a few. Each of the varieties are carefully tended to with regenerative farming practices of biodynamics and paying special attention to the symbiotic relationship of vines to the uncultivated land surrounding them.
The Pinot Noir is refreshingly bright and complex with bursting red fruit and freshly-picked herbs.
